I am going to start with an article I wrote for The Networker and will include them monthly as well. As we all are painfully aware, things are a bit tough right now...not just in our industry but everywhere.  People don't seem to be as happy or  having as much fun as usual.  The energy is just not there.   Even I, myself, who is usually a very upbeat “glass half full” type of gal, have been bitten by the “woe is me” economy and doom and gloom news... I mean, it’s relatively easy to feel strong, sexy and successful when things are hopping, and money is flowing.  The challenge is to have that same feeling when we’re in a powerfully negative environment. . So, I have decided that it is time to pick myself up and dust myself off and realize that now is the time for us to dig in. Won’t you join me?<br/>The way I see it:<br/>Now is the time to get to work. I know I am.<br/>Now is the time to start to build something (heck, we have the time)<br/>Now is the time to reinvent yourself.  I know I am.<br/>Now is the time to take advantage of bargains.  Everyone is willing to cut a deal now, so get your projects moving now.  (Keep the tickets cheap.)  <br/>Build relationships now.  <br/>Now is the time to practice gratitude for what we have...<br/>Now is the time to make ourselves better, thinner, stronger, more experienced...<br/>whatever it is that we want to change,...Now is the time to do it...<br/><br/>Show everyone that you are not taking this lying down, that it hasn’t beaten you.<br/>You say you have something to offer, NOW is the time to prove it.  And prove it to everyone, including yourself. <br/>You can’t afford to wait it out...<br/>You can’t afford to sit back ...<br/>You can’t afford to let the whole thing get you down... NO.... Really.... you cannot AFFORD to feel bad....OPTIMISM IS CHEAP ...DEPRESSION IS EXPENSIVE!!!<br/><br/>People rest on being talented.  And then they get depressed.  Talent isn't enough. Talent can get temporarily thwarted.  Persistence cannot.  Talent is necessary, but we need to train.   To become so much better that we people need to make films and commercials and television shows here.  We need to make L.A. competitive again.<br/><br/><br/>We all need to be entertained.  We all need to feel and connect with humanity. We all need to laugh, especially now.
